Matt Barnes joined Vertical Detroit as Executive Chef in June 2019. A native of Detroit, Chef Matt comes to Vertical with over a decade of professional culinary
experience. He began his culinary career working in local restaurants and then continued to pursue his training at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. After culinary
school, Chef Matt went on to head up numerous kitchens both locally and throughout the Midwest, most recently as the Executive Sous Chef at The London
Chop House in Detroit. Chef Matt brings a true locavore’s perspective to Vertical Detroit, focusing on sourcing from local purveyors like Motor City Seafood and
Wolverine Packing. A passionate chef who is always looking to elevate his craft, Chef Matt spends his free time cooking for friends and family and planning his
next culinary adventure.
