2014 Bret Brothers Viré-Clessé, Mâconnais
Wine of the Week – Aug, 9 – Aug.16
2014 Bret Brothers
Viré-Clessé, Mâconnais
TASTING NOTES FROM BRET BROTHERS
“Viré-Clessé has been a Cru du Mâconnais since 1999, the fruit of the unification of AOC Mâcon-Clessé and Mâcon-Viré joining the status of Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Loché, Pouilly-Vinzelles and Saint-Véran. Our Viré-Clessé Climat « La Verchère » comes from 50 year-old vines in the village of Viré, North of Mâcon. A pretty East facing plot of vines whose clay and limestone soils are ploughed to reveal the noble Terroir of Viré. Balance, citrus and minerality join forces in this beautiful wine.”
TASTING NOTES FROM DEVIN MUYLLE
Vertical Detroit – Certified Sommelier
“This flirtatious wine from the Mâconnais district in southern Burgundy is produced from 100% chardonnay. It has the perfect amount of oak on the palate and a clean finish of limestone minerality. This wine is perfect as an aperitif but will also stand up to fish & poultry dishes!
